OVERVIEW

Join us on our uniquely structured Giants Causeway tour from Dublin to one of Ireland’s 7 wonders which is also one of the northernmost points in all of Ireland.

From the moment you board our comfortable coach, you will have the benefit of gaining valuable knowledge in regards to Ireland’s enchanting history, all the while driving along some of the most impressive coastline in Ireland. You will also see a few Game of Thrones locations; we visit the fantastic Dark Hedges and our route offers spectacular views of historic Dunluce Castle.

The Giants Causeway is listed as Ireland’s first World Heritage site. This is only one of the many reasons why you honestly can’t pass up an opportunity to join us and share this exciting experience. Our guides are top-notch, filled with humour, wisdom and unbeatable knowledge about Ireland and her history. They all have irresistible Irish charm which will keep you coming back for more exciting adventures!

Take in the rugged beauty of the causeway and the rock formations and crevices that are filled with history and legend. The formation of the unique causeway is explained by both nature and mysterious Irish legend. You decide on how the distinctive causeway was formed and enjoy exploring ancient rock formations while you look out at the mighty ocean crashing right onto the tip of the causeway.

We will see another impressive sight. The twist here is that we will not only see it, but we will cross it! The legendary Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge will make you face your fears. Try not to look down as you cross the rope bridge across to Carrick Island. There’s only one way back – crossing the rope bridge once again! Entrance to the bridge is conveniently included. Face your fears and have a truly unique experience. What an adventure! A 20 minute coastal walk to get to the bridge rewards us with views of Rathlin Island, Sheep Island and even as far as Scotland on the horizon.

The Northern coastline of County Antrim is immersed in ancient history and mythology. See our detailed itinerary for a more comprehensive look at what our Giants Causeway tour has to offer. Our Giants Causeway day trip from Dublin leaves daily at 6.30am

ITINERARY - Giants Causeway Tour

6:30am : Depart Dublin

Our Giants causeway day trip from Dublin meets at the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street (map is available within the link to the booking page) near Grafton Street. Once there you'll be greeted by your fun loving and knowledgeable guide and meet your fellow travellers. On our comfortable coach, you can relax as we head out of Dublin towards Belfast. Keep your camera at the ready as there are many picturesque views as we make our way north.

10.00am  : The Dark Hedges

The Game of Thrones has become world famous and highlights some of the most beautiful places in Northern Ireland. One of the iconic settings is the Dark Hedges, a beautiful stretch of road surrounded by 200 year old beech trees, their intertwining branches forming a natural archway.

10.30am : Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge

We will head towards the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge which is managed by the National Trust. In order to show our personal support for this conservation charity, we include the price of crossing the bridge within the price of our deal. We have a lovely 20 minute coastal walk to reach the bridge, so gather your wits as you walk but also enjoy the stunning views and note the native wildlife along the way. However, you walk across the rope bridge – a fearless adventurer or a nervous but courageous adventurer, you will experience breathtaking views across Rathlin Island and even the Mull of Kintyre of Scotland on the horizon. See the remarkably flat landscape of Sheep Island, once used for sheep grazing.

12:00pm : Giants Causeway

After crossing Carrick-A Rede rope bridge and enjoying the views, we head to the charming village of Ballintoy. We will have spectacular views over Whiteparks Bay and Portbradden. We will have lunch (not included) before tackling the legendary Causeway. We make sure you have the opportunity to be well-fed first before we arrive at the Causeway and explore the cliffs and rock formations. We suggest strolling up to the very peak of the cliffs so that you’re able to enjoy a panoramic view of the causeway, then descend down to the point referred to as the “Organ”. You will be impressed by this extraordinary sight. Explore this fantastic natural attraction formed 50 million years ago.

2:30pm : Dunluce Castle

Once we finish immersing ourselves in the legends of the Giants Causeway, we head to the impressive city of Belfast. We ensure to take a route that gives you the best possible chance to see more of Northern Ireland’s magnificent sights, such as Dunluce Castle; a 15'th century castle which was once home to the MacDonnell clan. It has also been featured in Game of Thrones and is said to be the inspiration for CS Lewis’ fictional castle, Cair Paravel in the famous “Chronicles of Narnia”. We will also pass through the spirited town of Bushmills, which is the home of a world-famous brand of whiskey.

4:00pm : Belfast

Once we’ve arrived at the notable city of Belfast, you’ll be allotted approximately an hour to enjoy this lively city. We recommend visiting the main shopping district for souvenirs, checking out one of the historic pubs or seeing the impressive Belfast City Hall. You also have the option to do the "Black Taxi Tour" which takes you on a guided tour of key locations related to Belfast’s political history and unrest. Let your guide know and he will book it in advance for you so that your taxi is waiting and you can maximise the full amount of time in Belfast (this is not included in the price of your tour). Afterwards, we’ll get comfortable on the coach to return to Dublin after a day of adventure, stunning sights and unique experiences.

7:30pm  : Arrive Back in Dublin

We will arrive back in Dublin filled with stories, memorable experiences and stunning photos to share.

TESTIMONIALS: Giant's Causeway Day Trip

Best Tour/Guide to Belfast and Giants Causeway from Dublin!!

My husband and I went on the Belfast/Giant's Causeway tour through Extreme Ireland last Friday with a tour guide named Bud, and he was the sweetest, friendliest, most welcoming guy we met! It was our first time in Ireland, and he truly made us feel so included and welcomed. The tour was about 13-14 hours long in total and it was totally worth every penny. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the country and its history, and he encouraged us to ask questions. Even though it was a long tour, I felt like it was totally worth it especially since you could take a nap in the comfy tours during the longer legs of the trip. Overall, I'd recommend this tour and company in a heart beat. Specifically, I'd ask for the tour guide Bud if you can- I promise he will show you a good time!

“Access to all the highlights in Ireland”

We chose two different trips from Irish Day Tours (Cliffs/Galway & Giants Causeway/Belfast) and were lucky enough to have Bud as our driver on both days. We had a brand new bus on both trips and the seats were comfortable and roomy- be prepared for a long drive and bring a neck pillow and water, but other than that, we were just fine. The bus was on time and everyone that worked for the company was friendly and accommodating. Absolutely no issues! Loved the stops along the way and the lunch options were wonderful!! I would maybe ditch Galway and include the castle or caves instead on the Cliffs tour, but other than that-- love!

Bud was fantastic! We truly lucked out. He told us stories the entire way and kept us engaged and smiling. We even had the pleasure of hearing him sing some Irish music. Seriously, he was wonderful, caring, and warm. He gave us the insider scoop in Dublin and at each place we stopped. Thank you Bud!

“Loved the Giants Causeway tour!”

My husband and I went on the giants causeway tour from Dublin on Monday 5/22/17. Our bus driver/tour guide was Bud and he was so great! This tour is a must if you only have a few days in Ireland and want to get the most out of your day. It is a jam packed day, starts from 6:30am and ends at 8:00pm. I have to say we went on three other bus tours and this was my absolute favorite! It was an unforgettable experience going to Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Giants Causeway! I highly recommend booking this tour!

“Giant's Causeway and Belfast day tour”

What a great tour! A very long day, but so many things to see. Our guide, Jennifer and Larry, our driver, were the best, full of very informative stories, legends, history... Although we leave Dublin at 6:30 am and only get back around 7:30 pm, the day just flies by. There are bathroom breaks every 2 hours, with opportunities for coffee and a bite to eat. We visited the Dark Hedges, very pretty, then trouble...they got a call that the next stop on our itinerary (Carrick-a-rede rope bridge) was closed due to vandalism. Well, in no time, they switched things arounds and we got to visit Dunluce castle (it was supposed to be a photo opp. only) which was much better for in my view. Lunch stop at a pub, the off to Giant's Causeway, which was well worth the trip. Then off to Belfast, with a history lesson thrown in. Wow! Didn't opt for the Black Cab Tour but visited City Hall, and a great exhibit on history of the city, and walked around. Our guides were great, knowledgeable and fun. This was our second tour with them, and would highly recommend them.

“Giant's Causeway Tour”

Our driver/tour guide, Bud, was a high point for me - his commentary, a combination of history, philosophy and humor made a very long ride very enjoyable - the Northern Ireland coast is stunningly beautiful - also the addition of some Game of Thrones filming locations was an added bonus for GoT fans

“Whistle-stop Tour of Northern Ireland”

Very glad that we booked onto the Giants Causeway tour, we were very lucky with the unexpectedly beautiful weather that we had and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this trip. Could have done with slightly longer in Belfast but otherwise felt that the trip was the perfect opportunity to see as much as possible in a day. Liam our driver/tour guide was very helpful, informative and funny. Would definitely recommend.
