Our driver/tour guide, Bud, was a high point for me - his commentary, a combination of history, philosophy and humor made a very long ride very enjoyable - the Northern Ireland coast is stunningly beautiful - also the addition of some Game of Thrones filming locations was an added bonus for GoT fans

You will also see a few Game of Thrones locations; we visit the fantastic Dark Hedges and our route offers spectacular views of historic Dunluce Castle.
The Giants Causeway is listed as Ireland’s first World Heritage site. This is only one of the many reasons why you honestly can’t pass up an opportunity to join us and share this exciting experience. Our guides are top-notch, filled with humour, wisdom and unbeatable knowledge about Ireland and her history. They all have irresistible Irish charm which will keep you coming back for more exciting adventures!
Take in the rugged beauty of the causeway and the rock formations and crevices that are filled with history and legend. The formation of the unique causeway is explained by both nature and mysterious Irish legend. You decide on how the distinctive causeway was formed and enjoy exploring ancient rock formations while you look out at the mighty ocean crashing right onto the tip of the causeway.
We will see another impressive sight. The twist here is that we will not only see it, but we will cross it! The legendary Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge will make you face your fears. Try not to look down as you cross the rope bridge across to Carrick Island. There’s only one way back – crossing the rope bridge once again! Entrance to the bridge is conveniently included. Face your fears and have a truly unique experience. What an adventure! A 20 minute coastal walk to get to the bridge rewards us with views of Rathlin Island, Sheep Island and even as far as Scotland on the horizon.
The Northern coastline of County Antrim is immersed in ancient history and mythology. See our detailed itinerary for a more comprehensive look at what our Giants Causeway tour has to offer. Our Giants Causeway day trip from Dublin leaves daily at 6.30am
Giants Causeway Tour Itinerary
6:30am Our Giants causeway day trip from Dublin meets at the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street (map is available within the link to the booking page) near Grafton Street. Once there you'll be greeted by your fun loving and knowledgeable guide and meet your fellow travellers. On our comfortable coach, you can relax as we head out of Dublin towards Belfast. Keep your camera at the ready as there are many picturesque views as we make our way north.
10.00am The Game of Thrones has become world famous and highlights some of the most beautiful places in Northern Ireland. One of the iconic settings is the Dark Hedges, a beautiful stretch of road surrounded by 200 year old beech trees, their intertwining branches forming a natural archway.
10.30am We will head towards the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge which is managed by the National Trust. In order to show our personal support for this conservation charity, we include the price of crossing the bridge within the price of our deal. We have a lovely 20 minute coastal walk to reach the bridge, so gather your wits as you walk but also enjoy the stunning views and note the native wildlife along the way. However, you walk across the rope bridge – a fearless adventurer or a nervous but courageous adventurer, you will experience breathtaking views across Rathlin Island and even the Mull of Kintyre of Scotland on the horizon. See the remarkably flat landscape of Sheep Island, once used for sheep grazing.
12:00pm After crossing Carrick-A Rede rope bridge and enjoying the views, we head to the charming village of Ballintoy. We will have spectacular views over Whiteparks Bay and Portbradden. We will have lunch (not included) before tackling the legendary Causeway. We make sure you have the opportunity to be well-fed first before we arrive at the Causeway and explore the cliffs and rock formations. We suggest strolling up to the very peak of the cliffs so that you’re able to enjoy a panoramic view of the causeway, then descend down to the point referred to as the “Organ”. You will be impressed by this extraordinary sight. Explore this fantastic natural attraction formed 50 million years ago.
2:30pm Once we finish immersing ourselves in the legends of the Giants Causeway, we head to the impressive city of Belfast. We ensure to take a route that gives you the best possible chance to see more of Northern Ireland’s magnificent sights, such as Dunluce Castle; a 15'th century castle which was once home to the MacDonnell clan. It has also been featured in Game of Thrones and is said to be the inspiration for CS Lewis’ fictional castle, Cair Paravel in the famous “Chronicles of Narnia”. We will also pass through the spirited town of Bushmills, which is the home of a world-famous brand of whiskey.
4:00pm Once we’ve arrived at the notable city of Belfast, you’ll be allotted approximately an hour to enjoy this lively city. We recommend visiting the main shopping district for souvenirs, checking out one of the historic pubs or seeing the impressive Belfast City Hall. You also have the option to do the "Black Taxi Tour" which takes you on a guided tour of key locations related to Belfast’s political history and unrest. Let your guide know and he will book it in advance for you so that your taxi is waiting and you can maximise the full amount of time in Belfast (this is not included in the price of your tour). Afterwards, we’ll get comfortable on the coach to return to Dublin after a day of adventure, stunning sights and unique experiences.
7:30pm We will arrive back in Dublin filled with stories, memorable experiences and stunning photos to share.

Very glad that we booked onto the Giants Causeway tour, we were very lucky with the unexpectedly beautiful weather that we had and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this trip. Could have done with slightly longer in Belfast but otherwise felt that the trip was the perfect opportunity to see as much as possible in a day. Liam our driver/tour guide was very helpful, informative and funny. Would definitely recommend.

“Giant's Causeway & Northern Ireland ”
We had a fantastic day visiting around Northern Ireland with Extreme Ireland Tours! Liam, our driver and guide, had many interesting stories and told them well, a great sense of humour and a very nice guy. On top of that - Liam is a really good and safe driver, kept to all the times so we could fit all the visits in comfortably.
We both loved the tour, the rope bridge and giants causeway and the beautiful countryside and chances to get out and walk and explore. Most of all, the black cab tour of Belfast was a very moving and unforgettable experience - the black cab driver/guides lived it first-hand. You see so much in one hour, I didn't even realise the city is still divided with a huge wall. The whole day was great - highly recommend it!
