Overview

Built nearly 600 years ago by one of Ireland’s greatest chieftains, Blarney Castle has been attracting attention ever since. Over the last few hundred years, millions have flocked to Blarney making it a world landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. Now that might have something to do with the Blarney Stone, the legendary Stone of Eloquence, found at the top of our tower. Receive the “gift of the gab” by kissing the famous Stone. The gardens surrounding Blarney Castle are a paradise for walkers and are worth exploring.

You will have the chance to discover the Rock of Cashel, which is considered to be one of Ireland’s 7 Wonders. This is a site of immense historical importance as it was the seat of the King of Munster. This location was a fortress, which dates back before the Anglo-Norman conquerors reigned over the land. Not to mention, there is an extensive collection of historical, architectural and artistically related pieces gathered here.

For the last stop enjoy a guided tour of one of Ireland's largest castles, Cahir Castle situated along the River Suir in Co. Tipperary.  Built by Conor O'Brien, Prince of Thomand in the thirteenth century.

We will pass alongside two separate mountain ranges; the first are the Knockmealdown Mountains that have been made famous by the Irish folk song 'Kitty Borne O’Brien'. Next, we’ll come across Ireland’s highest inland range, the Galtee Mountains. The views are simply breathtaking!

This uniquely structured tour departs from Dublin every day of the week at 6:50am, and will deliver you safely back into the city centre at approximately 7:00pm. For further details and a detailed breakdown on your day with Irish Day Tours, click on the itinerary.

Itinerary

 6:50 am: DEPART COLLEGE GREEN

We will meet you at The Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street (the sitemap is available within the link to the booking page). Before leaving you will meet your fun-loving and knowledgeable tour guide and your fellow travel companions! Our exciting day tour will begin by traveling through Ireland’s southern terrain. As we leave the city behind us, we’ll soon pass into an area referred to as “The Curragh” within County Kildare. This region is absolutely perfect for breeding and training horses.

9:00 AM: ROCK OF CASHEL

We will arrive at one of Ireland's 7 wonders - The Rock of Cashel! Here we will explore the Hall of Vicars, Cormack's Chapel, Celtic Cathedral, Round Tower, and the surrounding grounds filled with ancient high crosses! In addition, you will have the marvelous opportunity to gaze upon one of Ireland's oldest Romanesque wall paintings inside the world-famous historical landmark.

11:30 AM: KISS THE STONE AT BLARNEY CASTLE

We then arrive at Blarney Castle, which is the highlight of the tour for most. Blarney Castle is known around the world for its famous Blarney Stone. Kiss the stone and receive the “gift of the gab”. Blarney Castle isn't all about the Stone; the Blarney castle itself is worthy of exploration as are its fantastic lush grounds and woodland walks. There is much to see and explore. See the Rock Close and find the Wishing Steps to make a wish!

15:30 PM: CAHIR CASTLE

For our last stop of the day, we will arrive at Cahir Castle in County Tipperary.  Cahir Castle is one of Ireland's most preserved castles still boasting a lot of its original structure.
